COPERNICUS Sentinel-2 B/C/D Satellite M3 MIRROR MX ISMA

  • Technoplast Kft has manufactured, with CNC milling technology, Multi Spectral Instrument components, heat protection elements, deflectors and consoles of alloyed aluminium. The purpose of the project is to provide mechanical components for Sentinel-2 Satellite.
  • The Sentinel-2 pair of satellites routinely transmits high resolution optical images all over the world, thus ensuring continuity of sending SPOT and Landsat type data.
  • The Sentinel-2 is equipped with visible light, infrared proximity and short wave infrared optical sensors.
  • The first satellite was launched in 2014.
  • Data from Sentinel-2 will be evaluated and used by European and national institutes as well as agricultural, forestry, disaster management and humanitarian organisations. The Sentinel-2 provides optical images for Global Environment Monitoring.

Marker Support Navigation (MSN)

  • The purpose of the project is to develop aging resistant markers for the European Space Agency (ESA) to be installed on ESA satellites.
  • When these satellites do not operate any longer, a receiving satellite can be connected to them and the function of these markers is to facilitate this docking.
  • Using CNC milling technology, Technoplast has manufactured alloyed aluminium components shown in the picture for the project.

ARIEL PRODEX space telescope for exploring exoplanets

  • ESA’s scientific mission is to study the atmosphere of exoplanets. A special radiator – whose function is to regulate the temperature of the critical devices, typically the detector and electronics, very precisely within the satellite – has been installed in the space shuttle.
  • Three containers will also be prepared in which the space telescope will be transported throughout Europe, ensuring proper temperature for the satellite with a value of several hundred million Euros and a vibration-free internal environment, under clean room conditions.
  • The Hungarian contribution to the assembly of the space shuttle in England will also include manufacture of various mounting frames, positioning devices and stands. Technoplast has manufactured the following alloyed aluminium components with CNC milling technology for the project: sample-holding tray, breadboard test, adapter heat test, adapter plate, baseboard, heat deflector, MX cover, punching head, clamping nut.

Comet InterceptorA Comet Interceptor

ESA intends to launch a robotic spaceship mission in 2029. The space probe will be “parking” at Sun-Earth point L2 waiting for a long-period comet, and it may take three years that the comet flies past the probe on a reachable orbit and at a reachable speed. The mission will get to an undiscovered comet which flies near the selected target while approaching Earth’s orbit. The three space probes of the spaceship will make observations simultaneously from several points around the comet, and this way it will prepare a 3D profile of a “dynamically new” object which contains the raw material left behind from the dawn of the Solar System.

Copernicus CO2 carbon dioxide monitoring satellite

Copernicus Anthropogenic Carbon Dioxide Monitoring (CO2M) is a mission of the European Space Agency (ESA) which is the first to assess the concrete amount of carbon dioxide that enters the atmosphere by human activities.
This mission is a part of mission Copernicus Sentinel Expansion and is developed by ESA, after commissioned by the European Union (EU), and is composed of three satellites: CO2M-A, CO2M-B and CO2M-C, of which the first, according to plan, will be launched in 2025.
At the moment, using CNC milling technology, we are manufacturing several components made of aluminium alloy: MX SWIR cap, PY ISM Cover Frame, PY ISM Cover Plate, MZ ISM Cover, MYPZ ISM Cover

FOCUS project, foam formation and stability in microgravity

Technoplast, as a subcontractor of Admatis Kft., has manufactured the following alloyed aluminium components with CNC milling technology for the project: case, window, enclosure, buttons.
The objective of the project is to prepare test equipment to simulate metal foam production technology. The foaming process and foam stability are examined in an aquatic environment to observe metal development under microgravity.
Testing of the equipment was carried out by astronaut Jeffrey Williams on the ISS space station on 7 February 2010.

Preparing plastic prototype components for aeronautical and aerospace industries

Justin, the humanoid robot, has been developed by the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). The main purpose of its creation was to prepare new space robots which can be mounted on their own satellite, can manoeuvre on an orbit and repair other satellites. Technoplast has prepared 23 vacuum cast prototype components for the project.
